BTLEd Major in Home Economics
The BTLEd program totals 179 units, covering General Education (36), Professional Education (48), Research (6), Major Courses (66), Physical Education (8), NSTP (8), and Institutional Courses (15). Its core specialization, Home Economics (HE)—also called “family and consumer science”—goes beyond traditional domestic work to build broad vocational and life skills. HE encompasses human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science and preparation, nutrition and wellness, textiles and apparel, consumer issues, industrial arts, IT, agriculture, fisheries, and other related fields per CMO No. 78 S. 2017. Graduates who pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers can teach TLE from Grades 7 to 10, while non-LET passers can pursue entrepreneurship in their HE-related specialization.
